Start young!

Teething symptoms can begin around two months, but the first tooth usually doesn’t appear before around six months.. however EVERY baby is different.. the symptoms can appear long before a tooth!

Some little ones in my care haven’t had their first tooth until after their first birthday.

This doesn’t however affect their weaning opportunities as their gums are so hard that they can still chew.

I LOVE Brush Baby products, they have such a good range of products to help with all aspects of teething as well as dental care.

Brush Baby Sonic Electric Toothbrush

Brush Baby Soft Chewable Toothbrush

Brush Baby Teething Toothpaste

“Introduce daily gum care from birth.  While your newborn baby may have no visible teeth, their baby teeth have already developed whilst in the womb and will begin to appear around 6 months of age.

Cleaning gums every day helps create a healthy environment for new baby teeth. Wipe the gums daily with a clean, moist gauze pad or Dental Wipe.”

Every baby should have been examined by a dentist by the time they are one, even if they don’t have any teeth yet. Its great to get them used to the environment and watch you have your teeth checked.

Other useful products

Nelsons teething granules

General health & wellbeing

Some children need paracetamol to cope with raised fever/pain during teething, but try to limit this as much as possible – seek medical help if you are worried about your little one’s symptoms. Remember to always follow your instincts, if you think something is wrong always seek medical attention.

I recommend doing a pediatric first aid course as this empowers you to understand childhood illnesses, choking, and how to deal with any emergency.
